Wan directed Insidious, The Conjuring, and Malignant. James Wan is producing the 2022 remake, along with Atomic Monster Productions and Vertigo Entertainment, with Gary Dauberman directing. In 1987, a made-for-TV sequel aired, Return to Salem’s Lot starring Michael Moriarty, and in 2002, a remake of the original was released starring Rob Lowe, Donald Sutherland, and Rutger Hauer. Soul was best known for his role in the ‘70s crime drama, Starsky and Hutch. Salem’s Lot saw its first adaptation in 1979 with a made-for-TV miniseries starring David Soul as Mears. A series of murders in town interrupts his work and eventually puts him at the center of a real-life vampire hunt. While there, he begins writing a novel revolving around the mysterious and supposedly haunted Marsten house.
The story follows writer Ben Mears on his return to his hometown Jerusalem’s Lot.
Salem’s Lot, based on Stephen King’s vampire novel of the same name, is set to be released in September 2022.
